A benchmark was passed yesterday evening. The first Krogmann Farms figs of the season were harvested. Four big, plump, purple beauties just hanging there. These first four were like the tallest boy in a 7th grade class, the one who hit puberty first, in that they were ripe and ready when 99% of the tree was still hard green buds. And also that the taste wasn't fully sweet yet. Still a little bitter. Still in that gangly, awkward phase.
We are only weeks away from Uncle Mike's 2008 Country Figjam, people!
